Next meeting CANCELLED April 14, 2016

Our next regularly scheduled lodge meeting, Thursday, April 14, is cancelled. Several officers will be out of town attending the 92nd annual Nevada State Elks Convention in North Las Vegas.  We have been granted a dispensation to cancel by District Deputy Dan Wells.
We are excited to meet others (200+) at the conference, network, and learn new things.
See you at the next meeting later this month!

Next meeting, Thursday March 24

Doors open at 5:00, Picnic themed potluck at 6:00, special meeting at 7:00 pm at the Masonic Lodge.  Incoming elected and appointed officers will be Installed by the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Dan Wells and several assistants.  The public is welcome to attend.  Business attire is preferable.

Next meeting Thursday 10 March

The next Elks lodge meeting and social is on Thursday, March 10.  Doors open at 5:00 pm, blue pigs will be counted from 5:00pm to 6:45pm, an ice cream social begins at 6:00 pm, and the regular meeting is at 7:00 pm.
Be sure to bring your “Blue Pig” and be counted (your piggy bank in which you have been saving money for the lodge.)
It does not matter if your piggy bank is full or not.  We will set up a counting station where we can process and count your donation.  Half of the proceeds will go towards our State Major Project and half will go into the Lodge Building Fund.
We have planned an ice cream social for the evening.  Members are asked to bring toppings.  The ice cream will be provided.

The next Elks meeting is Thursday, 11 Feb, at the Masonic Lodge in Elko, NV. Doors open at 5:00 pm for social time, a Valentine’s Day Dessert raffle will be held at 6:00 pm, and the regular meeting is at 7:00 pm.

Please bring a Valentine’s dessert to raffle to raise money for our General Fund.

Great Basin Elks Hoop Shoot

Great Basin Elks Hoop Shoot

The free annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest, hosted by Great Basin Elks Lodge #1472, will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Elko High School Old Gymnasium. Age groups of 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13 for both boys and girls will be used. Eligibility is determined by the age contestants will be on April 1, 2016. All contestants must bring proof of birth date (birth certificate, passport or baptism certificate).

The free-throw competition will begin at 10 a.m., with the 8-9 age group shooting from 11 feet. The 10-11 and 12-13 groups will shoot from the regulation free-throw line at 15 feet.

Six local winners will advance to the district shoot on Jan. 30, 2016 in Austin. For more information, contact Gary Alexander at 738-3823.

Next meeting Thursday 12 November

The next Elks meeting is Thursday, Nov 12, at the Masonic Lodge in Elko.  Doors open at 5:00 pm, social hour begins at 6:00 pm, and the regular meeting is at 7:00 pm.
The Hoop Shoot Committee will meet shortly before the regular meeting.
To celebrate Thanksgiving, please plan to bring a pie to raffle off during the social hour (we’ll raffle the pies at 6:45 pm).  Raffle tickets will be $2 each.  Come, bring a pie, and take one home for Thanksgiving!  The more pies we have, the more Elk will go home with a great treat!

The next Elks meeting is Thursday, Oct 22, at the Masonic Lodge in Elko.  Doors open at 5:00 pm, Soup Supper Social begins at 6:00 pm, and the regular meeting is at 7:00 pm.
Concerning the dinner, from our Food Master Dorna:
In honor of fall, colder weather and less sunlight, we will be having a soup bar next social gathering.  We have plans to have a power strip in place for up to six crock pots so bring your favorite soup and bread or cornbread and we can all get warm and cozy! (And don’t forget dessert!)
