Next Meeting: Thurs 26 Jan 2017

The next Great Basin Elks #1472 Lodge meeting will be held on Thursday, January 26 at the Masonic Lodge in Elko as usual – the heater has been repaired.  Doors will open at 5:00PM, dinner at 6:00PM, and the meeting will begin at 7:00PM.  It should be a short meeting this week.  February is the time for elections, so if you have an interest in a position, please attend the meeting and make your wishes known.
Our Food Master, suggests comfort foods for dinner, so bring your most comforting food (casseroles, bread, salad, dessert) and come share a meal with your fellow Elk before the meeting.

Happy New Year!

Our regular meeting this Thursday, January 12, will be held at the BASQUE CLUB IN ELKO located at 1601 Flagview Drive.  Doors will open at 5:00 PM and the meeting will begin at 7:00 PM as usual.
Our regular meeting location at the Masonic Lodge has no heat at this time.  They expect to have the heater fixed by our next meeting.

Next Meeting: Thursday Nov 10, 2016

The next meeting will be on Thursday November 10, 2016.  Doors open at 5:00 PM for social hour at the Masonic Lodge in Elko, a raffle for home baked items or home canned goods to will occur during the social hour (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM), a non-traditional or modern takes on the traditional turkey Thanksgiving potluck dinner at 6:00 PM, a guest speaker from PACE Coalition at 6:00 PM, and the regular meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.
All of your officers look forward to seeing you at the meeting on November 10!

The next meeting will be on Thursday October 27, 2016.  Doors open at 5:00 PM for social hour at the Masonic Lodge in Elko, Halloween Theme potluck dinner at 6:00 PM, and the regular meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.
VIPs will attend our meeting and a number of exciting events to take place during our regular lodge meeting!  Hope you can make it to this next meeting.

Next Meeting: Thurs Sept 22, 2016

The next meeting will be on September 22, 2016.  Doors open at 5:00 PM at the Masonic Lodge in Elko, Squash Potluck dinner at 6:00 PM, and the regular meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.
Our next regular meeting on September 22 is a potluck dinner, proceeds will go to the Elks Disaster Relief Program, which has recently given $10,000 to victims of the flooding in Louisiana.  Carrie, our new Food Master, suggested as it’s zucchini, yellow squash, and squash season in general, that squash will be our theme for September’s pre-meeting dinner.  As Carrie said, “You can make any number of things with this vegetable from lasagna to soup, cake to canned goods. Let’s see what people can do with it. If people would like to include a recipe, that would be great.”  Thanks to Carrie for the suggestion!  Let’s see what we can do with squash for our next potluck!

Next Meeting Thurs June 23, 2016

My apologies for not quite keeping up with the announcements lately.

 

The next meeting of the Great Basin Elks Lodge #1472 will be this Thursday June 23, 2016 at the Elko Masonic Lodge.  Doors will open at 5pm, dinner at 6pm with a guest speaker, and the meeting will begin at 7pm.

As for food, it’s Salad Night – bring your favorite salad ingredient or type of salad for dinner to share.

Our guest speaker will discuss veteran’s issues.

There will be an initiation as well as a remembrance of the life of a member who recently passed.

Flags For Heroes

To All Great Basin Elks Members:

For our Flag Day event this year, the membership has agreed to assist in the Flags for Heros event taking place on May 28 – May 30.  Attached is an informational flier that outlines the event.  Danny Alexander, our Veterans Services Chairman, is organizing a work party from the Great Basin Elks to put flags up and take them down during the Memorial Day weekend.  The following is information from Danny for anyone that wishes to participate.

Take down the flags – 0800, Tuesday May 31st

Everyone should meet at the Spring Creek High School Parking Lot on both days.

Next Meeting Thursday 26 May

Please join us this Thursday for our monthly meeting with a social hour.  Doors open at 5 p.m.  Dinner will start at 6 p.m. (See below.)  Our guest speakers are two of our scholarship recipients.  The regular meeting will start at 7 p.m. and we will have initiations.
Food: 
Taco Night!  Bring stuff for tacos, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, green chilis, salsa, taco shells, and tortillas and anything else you like on your taco.  A pan of refried beans will be brought by our Food Master.
