Next Meeting: Thurs Sept 22, 2016

The next meeting will be on September 22, 2016.  Doors open at 5:00 PM at the Masonic Lodge in Elko, Squash Potluck dinner at 6:00 PM, and the regular meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.
Our next regular meeting on September 22 is a potluck dinner, proceeds will go to the Elks Disaster Relief Program, which has recently given $10,000 to victims of the flooding in Louisiana.  Carrie, our new Food Master, suggested as it’s zucchini, yellow squash, and squash season in general, that squash will be our theme for September’s pre-meeting dinner.  As Carrie said, “You can make any number of things with this vegetable from lasagna to soup, cake to canned goods. Let’s see what people can do with it. If people would like to include a recipe, that would be great.”  Thanks to Carrie for the suggestion!  Let’s see what we can do with squash for our next potluck!

Elko Clean Up Green Up

We will be cleaning up the area around Porter Roofing at 7:30-8:00AM on Saturday 23 April 2016 at 120 West Main St, Elko.  There is a large empty lot that needs some attention.  Please meet at 120 West Main St. for a short safety briefing and to receive your shirts, raffle tickets, and dump vouchers.  I allowed for a couple kids in our tally so if you have a younger person who wants to join us, I should have a shirt and lunch ticket.  Be prepared for some rain.  “They” say there is an 80% chance, but hopefully we will be out and done by the time the rain comes.  Bring gloves, rakes, and whatever you deem useful for weed and trash pick-up.

(paraphrased from) Carrie

Next meeting CANCELLED April 14, 2016

Our next regularly scheduled lodge meeting, Thursday, April 14, is cancelled. Several officers will be out of town attending the 92nd annual Nevada State Elks Convention in North Las Vegas.  We have been granted a dispensation to cancel by District Deputy Dan Wells.
We are excited to meet others (200+) at the conference, network, and learn new things.
See you at the next meeting later this month!
